Jimmie Marie Bryant Wright

Well done my good and faithful servant.

December 16, 1925 – February 25, 2020

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 12:00 PM at the Electra Cemetery.

A celebration of life and home-going service will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 2pm at the First Baptist Church, 406 West Garrison Avenue, Electra Texas.

Jimmie Marie Bryant Wright loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above all else. If you ever met her you came to know that very quickly. If you knew her you came to know of her love for you (she would say, "I choose to love you."). Both were genuine. Steadfast joy for life kept her younger than her 94 years. Her smile warmed the hearts of all whom she encountered. Life on earth came peacefully to its end on February 25, 2020, as she took Jesus' hand while her family sang to her the hymns of her faith.

She and her beloved husband, Billy Ray Wright (deceased), made a choice early in their Christian life to live out their faith by fully giving of themselves and their possessions. They were members of the Electra Community Church where they gladly served their Lord.

Jimmie had a deep and abiding love for her family and others. She was aware of and honest about her shortcomings and would readily share stories of her repentance and forgiveness. She lived her life giving out love and grace lavishly, and there was always more because of the source from whom she received it:  her Jesus.

Jimmie loved life. She loved being the wife of Billy Ray for nearly 41 years and being a stay-at-home mom to her two girls. She would laugh, and say she only started work outside the home so she could help Billy Ray pay for deborah and Julie's braces. So she started selling Mary Kay Cosmetics from home. Remember those in-home parties and the pink makeup trays? She then started selling women's clothing at Perkins Timberlake Department Store in Wichita Falls, where she put her good sense of style and fashion to use. She left this job to work across the street at Pier One. Can you imagine Jimmie having to balance numbers and work the cash register? Her work career ended when she retired after 15 years of being a 'dorm mom' to troubled boys at the Vernon Drug Center.

After this retirement she enjoyed helping and serving others – demonstrated by refinishing furniture, wallpapering, painting walls, decorating homes, going to garage sales, attending and hosting Bible studies, volunteering at the Electra Memorial Hospital, and for 22 years serving on the board of KMOC Radio.

In her last few years, she would laugh and say she had a telephone and note-writing ministry. She was a profound listener and exceptional encourager. She taught Bible lessons long distance over the phone and wrote many notes of love and affirmation.

If you knew her, you knew these were some of her favorite things:  Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, Shark Tank, David Jeremiah, Chuck Swindoll, Tony Evans, Priscilla Shirer, Cornbread and Milk, Chris Cuomo, lipstick, antique turquoise jewelry, unusual bird's nests, Judge Judy, Keith Urban, hair jokes, a nice lawn, pretty flowers, orchids, African Violets, having her picture taken and placed on FB, Monarch butterflies, clean street curbs, good books, good fitting shoes for her 10 1/2 AAAA (Olive Oyl) feet, talking about Jesus, and dessert, dessert, dessert (not necessarily in this order).

Paraphrasing words of a dear friend, Jimmie was the epitome of an endearing love - for Jesus - with the knowledge of everlasting life in his presence. Jimmie wanted everyone to know Jesus, and to know that Jesus loved them. I can see Jimmie in His presence telling him: "I told everyone about you, Jesus. And I hugged them for you, Jesus. And I kissed them for you, Jesus. I called them daughters and sons for you, Jesus. I shared your joy with them, Jesus." The weight is now on our shoulders, and on the shoulders of any son or daughter she hugged or kissed, to continue telling people about Jesus and his love for us all. At the end of this life Jimmie would say she just wanted to be all used up for Jesus and pleasing to God in all her attitudes and actions.

Ms. Jimmie's family members include her two daughters, deborah Rae Wright (grand-dog Zak Gordon Wright),  and Julie Wright Burgamy (Greg Burgamy), granddaughter Ashley Eaton (Daniel Eaton) and two precious great grandchildren Thomas Wright and Maren Marie,  grandson Todd Burgamy (Lexe Burgamy) and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind a multitude of dear friends whom she claims as her beloved extended family.

In lieu of flowers, deborah and Julie knowing their mom's wishes, ask that you think of others in any special loving way that serves the needs of your community.

Donations may be made in memory of Ms. Jimmie to the Electra Community Church, PO Box 182, Electra, Texas 76360 or the Electra Senior Citizen Center, 503 West Michigan Avenue, Electra, Texas 76360, 940-495-4311.

"Jesus said: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Matthew 22:37-40
