Jim Patterson, age 71, of Punkin Center, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Monday afternoon, November 2, 2026, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2026, at the Pavilion in Electra Memorial Park with Jesse Quintero, Chaplain for Concho Hearts Hospice of Wichita Falls, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Jim was born March 7, 1955, in Jacksboro, Texas, to the late Dolphus Bryson Patterson and Patricia Joyce Mitchell Patterson.
He graduated from Albany High School in 1972.
Jim married Cheryle Preston on August 30, 1975, in Albany, Texas.
After graduating, Jim set out on what would become a lifelong career as a cowboy. He first worked for Caldwell Ranch, then moved to the W. T. Waggoner Ranch, where he spent more than twenty years. It was at the Waggoner that Jim broke colts at Whiteface before being promoted to Straw Boss and then Wagon Boss. In 1990, Jim and Cheryle purchased land near Harrold, Texas, and began building their own operation, Yellow Rose Land and Cattle. While continuing his work at the Waggoner, he and Cheryle worked toward a dream of their own. After retiring from the Waggoner Ranch, Jim day worked for Hudson Ranches for a few years before accepting the position of Ranch Manager at Swanson Ranch, where he worked until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Cheryle, his children, grandchildren and his dogs, who were also considered family. Jim could often be found sitting on his porch, enjoying the quiet time and the beauty of nature.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Cheryle Patterson of Punkin Center; one son, Jimmie Patterson and wife, Erica of Summers, Arkansas; two daughters, Jennifer Hammack and husband, Chris of Quanah, and Jodi Crocker and husband, Jody of Holliday; and six grandchildren, William, Nicholas and Jonathan Patterson, Sydney Hammack, and Alex and Zack Crocker.
Jim was also preceded in death by one sister, Helen Breeden.
