James Michael “Big Mike” Hewitt, age 63, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away Saturday evening, July 18, 2026, at his residence.

No services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Big Mike was born December 16, 1962, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the Wichita General Hospital. He was personally delivered to his loving parents, the late James Ralph Hewitt and Freddie Jean Lester Hewitt, three days after birth.

After graduating from Holliday High School in 1981, he began working for Finnell Oil Company. He later would attend Midwestern State University on paid tuition that was received from his father’s Lifelong Service to the United States Military. This is where he would meet so many of his Great Friends.

Throughout his lifetime, Big Mike had many jobs leaving an impression with everyone he would meet. At Coca-Cola, Kimberly Clark and Certainteed, and most recently as a Cashier at Sheppard Air Force Base, joking and serving with New Recruits…He would check out more from his line than most because they were eager to hear the joke of the day or see which pair of socks he would be wearing. Big Mike “James” was never at a loss for words, always using them to brighten everyone’s days. HE WAS LOVED!

July 17, 2012 to July 18, 2026, he just celebrated his fourteen year anniversary for Work Service Corporation.

Big Mike was a collector. He enjoyed estate sales and garage sales, looking for a new treasure. The finer things in life, like antiques, gold and jewelry, always caught Big Mikes eye. One of his proudest collections in life however, was his “Pig” Piggy Bank collection that he proudly passed down to his beloved great-nieces and great-nephew.

Survivors include one sister, Patti Moore and husband, Rodney of Holliday, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Hewitt of Jacksonville, Florida; niece, Mikel Sparks and husband, Kevin, and their children, Blayke Aldrich, Harlyn Aldrich, and Willow Sparks, of Alvord, Texas; niece, Rachel Clayton and husband, Rowdy, and their girls, Piper Mae Martinez and Rory Laine Clayton, of Wichita Falls, Texas; nephew, Mason Hewitt Moore and wife, Maryum, and their girls, Aaliyah and Verity, of Bryson, Texas; two aunts, Linda Mankins of Dundee, Texas and Janelle Lester of Anadarko, Oklahoma; and many first, second and third cousins.

Big Mike, as he was affectionately called by his many nieces and nephews, was full of life and will be missed tremendously by everyone who was blessed to have known him.
