Born August 8th, 1946 in the town of Graham, Tx, to James Sylvester and Bettie Jane Pollock. He was the first born of 3 children. The first 5 years of his life they lived in a small trailer. Then his sister Keta came along and eventually his little brother Don (Peewee). They moved to Archer City where he attended school. Spending his summers in Eliasville, Tx, with his grandparents and Uncle Ray Dean. Some of his fondest childhood memories were from there. He met my mother Paula in 1965. It was love at first sight for him. She didn't care much for him at first but with the help of my mother's mother they began dating. After only 2 months they became married on December 11th, 1965, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Olney, Tx. Shortly after he had to report for basic training in the Army. The following 2 years he spent in Europe during the Vietnam War. Upon his return home he and my mother moved a few places before settling in Archer City. My Father began a career in the oilfield, a career that would last 50+ years. Then my brother came along, James Anthony (Tony) Pollock Jr. After another 15 ½ years, of prayer I, Greg Edward, made my entrance.
My Father was a hard-working, genuine man. He loved with all his heart and never met a stranger. He loved life and always found joy where he could. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and tried to make the world a better place. He taught my brother and I as well as his grandkids to work hard and love when you can. To always be truthful in our lives and be good upstanding individuals. He and my mother taught us to be the men we are today.
Survivors include my brother, Tony Pollock and wife Kim of Wichita Falls; Myself, Greg Pollock and partner Jonathan of Wichita Falls; one sister Keta Cansler of Grandview; His wife Pamela Pollock of Archer City; 4 grandchildren, Derrik Pollock of Archer City, Desiree Pollock of Wichita Falls, Caleb Pollock of Wichita Falls and Isaac Pollock of Archer City; 4 great-grandchildren, Brielle, Brodie, Raelynn and Willow. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by our mother, his wife of 53 years, Paula Pollock; his parents James Sylvester and Bettie Jane and his little brother Don (Peewee) Pollock.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the charity of your choice.
