Jack Goodwin, age 101, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Electra Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013, in the New Electra Cemetery with Joe Ainsworth, retired minister of Electra, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Jack was born in Raines County, Texas on April 21, 1912 to Georgia Caro Goodwin.
He married Dora Arbuckle on June 15, 1933 in Rains County. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1980.
Jack and his family moved to Wichita County in 1942 where he worked as a farm laborer. He continued to work in the farming and ranching industry in Wichita and Wilbarger counties until he moved his family to Electra where he worked for grain elevator companies. After his retirement, he continued to work for area farmers working cattle and plowing.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Goodwin and his children, Jackie Nell Goodwin, Billy Goodwin, and Kenneth Goodwin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Goodwin, Weldon B. Goodwin, Robert Goodwin, Rufus Ray Goodwin and sisters, Florence Arbuckle, Mollie Goodwin, Minnie Shackleford, Olive Goodwin, Lena Weatherford, and Lou Ella Wright.
Jack is survived by his sons, Weldon Goodwin and wife, Janet of Electra, Jimmy Goodwin and wife, Cathy of Electra, Troy Goodwin of Electra; daughters, Dorothy Rutland and husband, Paul of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Theda Tennell and husband, Wayne of Electra, Debra Monroe of Wichita Falls; and daughter-in-law, Sue Goodwin of Electra. He is also survived by one sister, Patsy Vance of Quinlan, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Billy Goodwin, Jeff Goodwin, Joel Goodwin, Ernie Goodwin, Terry Tennell, Tony Tennell, Adam Goodwin and Cole Goodwin.
