Henry McClure, age 93, of Electra, Texas passed away Friday, September 4, 2015, in the Electra Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with his son, Hugh McClure officiating. Interment will follow in the Electra Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Henry was born October 9, 1921 to the late Hugh Edward McClure and Ola Lee Scales McClure in Electra.
He and Wanda Lee Dougherty were married January 22, 1946 in Electra. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2012.
Henry honorably served his country for twenty years in the United States Navy and retired as an E8. After his tour of duty, he was employed for the Electra Independent School District as the maintenance supervisor. He moved to Graham where he managed a motel. Henry returned to Electra and was employed as a bus driver for the school until he was eighty years old.
Henry enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and loved going to church. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Survivors include one son, Hugh McClure and wife, Sharon of Electra; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Rusty McClure; three sisters, Willie Lee Darter, Roxie Lawson and Virginia Eakin; a half-sister, Ria Faye McGrady; and two brothers, Ira Andrew McClure and A.J. McClure.
The family suggests memorials to the Electra Senior Citizens Center, 503 W. Michigan, Electra, Texas 76360.
