Windthorst
Harold Alois Schreiber, age 77, of Windthorst, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014, in Wichita Falls.
Vigil service and rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Deacon Don Brown officiating. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Maloney, O.F.S. Parochial Administrator of St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Harold was born on June 9, 1937 to the late Ernest Alois Schreiber and Apoline Goetkin Schreiber. He was the second oldest of ten children.
Harold graduated from Windthorst High School and had the honor of being chosen as captain of the first Trojan's football team.
He honorably served his country in the 49th Armored Division during the Berlin Crisis and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He and Mary Catherine Wolf were married on October 4, 1961. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1974. He and Fern Shook were married February 14, 1976 in Windthorst, Texas.
Harold was in the dairy business for over forty years. After selling the dairy, he went to work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture on the Karnal Bunt Project and worked there for seven years.
Harold was a life member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council for ten years. He served the church as Eucharist Minister and took communion to the sick and homebound. He was a life member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus where he held offices and served on many committees.
Survivors include his wife, Fern of Windthorst; two sons, Tim and wife, Tracy of Lewisville, and Glen and wife, Rhonda of Wichita Falls; one daughter, Susan Hartwig of Wichita Falls; step-son, Murray Shook and wife, Annette of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Pam Schreiber of Portage, Indiana; four sisters, Edna Krahl and husband, Robert of Scotland, Mable Anderle and husband, Gene of Paradise, Bernadette Rozier and husband, Ralph of Murphy, Marian D'Entremont of Lacey, Washington, and; four brothers, Lloyd and wife, Rita of Scotland, Ernest of Justin, Patrick and wife, Paulette of McKinney and Mike and wife, Nancy of Windthorst; eight grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Justine, Miranda, Madison, Mason, Sarah and Erin; and five great-grandchildren, Aubreigh, Autumn, Landry, Aby and Preston.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Donald Schreiber on January 26, 2012; brother, Tommy Schreiber on November 9, 2009.
Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Anderle, Kenan Rozier, Bob Schreiber, Lloyd Schreiber, Jr., Michael Schreiber, Jr. and Darin Wolf.
