Gene Allen Thomas, age 78, of Electra, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Gene was born April 21, 1940 to the late Sherman Thomas and Ruby Phillips Thomas.

He and Melba Colby were married November 27, 1958 in Madill, Oklahoma.

Gene had worked in the oilfield for twenty-eight years for Jimmy Birdwell Oil  of Kamay.  He then worked for the Electra ISD for ten years as the custodian.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of  Electra.  He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

Survivors  include his wife, Melba of Electra; two sons, John Mark Thomas and fiancé, Denise of Electra, and Mark Allen Thomas and wife, Alicia of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Letha O'Brian of Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Pat Nuner and husband, Roger of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; two brothers, Charlie Thomas and wife, Betty of Ravia, Oklahoma, and Richard Thomas and wife, Patsy of Ravia, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Justin and Kendra; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Ray Thomas.
