Gayle Margot Jennings, age 90, of Electra, Texas, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, December 18, 2025, in Electra Healthcare Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Electra Memorial Park with Roger Sanford, Pastor of Electra Community Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Gayle was born September 15, 1935 in the original Electra Hospital to the late Spurgeon Jennings and Audrey Lucille Tarlton Jennings. She grew up at 205 West Ida Avenue in Electra and that was her current residence at the time of her passing. Gayle became a Disciple of Christ in her home town and anywhere she went.

Gayle was a 1953 graduate of the old Electra High School. She then attended Hardin Simmons University for a year and subsequently, Baylor University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education and English.

When she heard about Berachah Church in Houston, she decided to go there to attend and learn about it. Gayle enjoyed this experience and decided to move to Houston.

She taught for over forty years. In Houston, she taught in public schools for ten years. Gayle then taught from 1966-1967 in England, where her students were children of military personnel. Upon returning to Houston, she spent eleven years teaching in a private school. Gayle then taught the bible class at Northwest Academy and was chair of the bible department for ten years.

Gayle returned home to Electra in 1992 to take care of her parents and after their deaths, decided to continue making Electra her home. Gayle decided she was not ready to stay retired and began teaching at Dinsmore Elementary in Electra in 1997 where she remained until her retirement.

In summers when she was off from school, Gayle always found things to do with her time. One particular summer, she took singing lessons. Gayle had a beautiful, lyrical soprano voice. She enjoyed reading in her free time as well. She also attended the Dallas Seminary one summer and learned to read Hebrew. After this, she decided she needed a Hebrew Bible. Another summer, Gayle spent her time learning to speak the German Language. She even attended Arthur Murray Dance School and learned all of the dance styles.

Gayle loved the Lord and teaching children. That was her life. She read her bible regularly and knew it front to back, and used this knowledge to tell others about the Lord Jesus and why he came to Earth. Gayle also enjoyed teaching vacation bible school for several years at the First United Methodist Church of Electra. She loved her friends and was very loved by them, especially the ladies supper club who met weekly for dinner in Electra. If Gayle knew you needed help, she was there to offer her support as well as her prayers.

Survivors include her dear friend, Nan Hotmann of Electra; and her cousins, James and Jacque Kemple of Durango, Colorado.

Everyone who knew Gayle will miss this very special and gifted Gal who they loved and called Friend.
