Gary Hanks, age 69, of Gainesville, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in Gainesville.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2108, in New Electra Cemetery with Joe Ainsworth of Electra officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Gary was born December 5, 1948 to Cecil and Opal Carter Hanks in Electra, Texas.

He graduated from Electra High School and moved to Gainesville, Texas in 1986.  Gary was employed for the Texas Youth Commission for twenty years where he served as a counselor and hearing Judge.

He married the love of his life, Trudy Johns on December 5, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gary was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for many years and earned his Eagle Scout Award.

Survivors include his wife, Trudy of Gainesville; two sons, Chris Hanks and wife, Beth of Gainesville, and Shawn Hanks and wife, Autumn of Whitesboro; two daughters, Brandi Early of Sherman, and Stafani Masten of Dallas; six grandchildren, Wade Hanks, Coltan Hanks, Hunter Hanks, Clayton Gunderson, Alison Gunderson, and Emilee Krahl; and one great-granddaughter, Everly Grace Gunderson Hernandez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are his sons, Chris and Shawn; grandsons, Wade, Coltan and Hunter Hanks, Clayton Gunderson, and cousin, Bert Rimmer.
