Fred W. Edge, age 75, lifelong resident of Archer City, Texas passed away Friday afternoon August 17, 2018 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in the Archer City Cemetery with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Aulds Funeral Home.

Fred was born November 13, 1942 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Paul Woodrow Edge and Opal Jo Thomas Edge.

He married the love of his life, Jan Scott on February 28, 1962 in Monroe, Michigan.

In 1963, he moved his family to Archer City. He owned and operated Fred Edge Oil Company where he did drilling and well servicing.  He also was a rancher and farmer. Fred worked with his son, Scott, at the Archer City Grain Elevator.  In 2000, Fred retired.

Fred was a member of the Archer City Volunteer Fire Department and the Archer City American Legion Post 198.  He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar and the Western TV Channel.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Jan of Archer City; one granddaughter, Karley Edge Buerger and husband, Scottie of Archer City; daughter-in-law, Terri Edge of Wichita Falls; and many extended family and friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Paul on June 3, 1990, his mother, Opal on April 21, 1998; and two sons, Scott on July 11, 2001 and Fred Jr. on February 29, 2016.
