Frances "Grandmommy" Hoffman, age 102, passed away Saturday morning, May 17, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas,
Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Frances was born April 20,1923 to the late Albert Theodore Schroeder and Rose Frances Seith Schroeder in Windthorst, Texas where she attended school.
She and Ray Hoffman, Sr. were married August 19,1941 in Windthorst. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1984.
Frances milked cows for thirty-eight years along with her children on the family dairy. Since 1982, Frances went to the school dressed in costume for each holiday where she was a clown, bunny rabbit, Santa Claus, Indian Princess and a Pilgrim. Her favorite hobbies were reading and sewing, and she made all of her children's clothing. Frances was very creative and enjoyed making bunnies for hundreds of children which they treasured. She loved bowling and clogging at the YMCA for many years.
Frances was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's Society for seventy-eight years. She also taught religion for kindergarten classes for eight years.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Fischer of Pilot Point, Texas and Dianne Zotz and husband, Charles of Windthorst; two sons, Ray Hoffman, Jr. and wife, Myra of Windthorst, Texas; and Terry Hoffman and wife, Kathleen of Scotland, Texas; one sister, Ida Hoff of Wichita Falls; brother-in-law, James Berend of Windthorst; two sisters-in-law, Stella Hoffman of Windthorst, and Margie Hoffman of Wichita Falls; twenty-three grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren and thirty great-great-grandchildren and four on the way including a set of twins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Bobby Fischer; granddaughter, Kristy Hoffman; six brothers, Fred, Paul, Louis, Julius, Edward and Al Schroeder; and three sisters, Rose Zihlman, Bertha Wolf, and Catherine Luig.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Curtis Fischer, Craig Fischer, Kenny Hoffman, Ray Hoffman, III, Bruce Zotz, Chuck Zotz, Matthew Zotz, Jonathon Zotz, Jeff Zotz, Damian Hoffman, Tyrel Hoffman, and Michael Hoffman.
