Floyd George Hilbers, Sr., age 89, of Windthorst, Texas passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, in a Wichita Falls hospital.

A vigil service and rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Moloney, officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Floyd was born September 13, 1929 in Slaton, Texas to the late Frank J. Hilbers and Tillie Anderle Hilbers.

He married the love of his life for sixty-six years, Mildred Ann Schreiber in Windthorst.  She preceded him in death on February 1, 2017.

Floyd was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst where he led the rosary on Saturday nights for many years.  He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Floyd retired as a heavy equipment operator and was known as the best blade operator around.  He loved playing bingo, gardening and just sitting out enjoying the fresh air.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Hilbers, Jr. of Windthorst, and Steve Hilbers and wife, Linda of Archer City; three daughters, Linda Haynes of Windthorst, Cindy Carlton and husband, Mike of Wichita Falls, and Edith Townsend and husband, Randy of Wichita Falls; one sister, Agnes Schreiber; honorary brothers, Terry Lear and wife, Vicki of Archer City, and Dale Dreher and wife, Carolyn of Wichita Falls; eighteen grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two daughters, Karen Foster and Marlene Ermis Marshall; one granddaughter, Jinny Millican; and one grandson, Larry Hilbers; and four sisters.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 of to the Windthorst Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 162, Windthorst, Texas 76389.
