Ernie Prescher, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

Vigil service and rosary will be Friday, December 1, 2023, at 6:00 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst, Texas with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary's and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Ernie was born February 10, 1935, to Alphonse Prescher and Caroline Haberman Prescher. He grew up in Windthorst and married Jolene Wolf on September 18, 1965. Together they lived a happy and full life for fifty-eight years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, formerly served on the Parish Council, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his Heavenly Father, his family, and his community.

Ernie was a dairy farmer for over 50 years and working with animals was his favorite thing to do. After retiring, he enjoyed helping others with theirs. Windthorst was his home until 2019 when he and Jolene moved to San Antonio to be close to family. There they became members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. He enjoyed the transition from the dairy to San Antonio, and for the first time in his life, worked out with a trainer at the gym to try to maintain his farmer's strength. He always had a smile that people loved and was an inspiration to the younger gym members.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse and Caroline Prescher; two sisters, Bessie King and Anita Blocker; two brothers-in-law, Norbert Hoedebeck and Ed King.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene; his daughter, Tammy Mallaise and husband, Sylvain of San Antonio, Texas; his son, Trent Prescher and wife, Dawn of Scurry, Texas; two grandsons, Braden and Baylor Prescher; and three step grandchildren, Cassandra, Caleb and Courtney; his sister, Marie Hoedebeck of Wylie, Texas; his brother, Johnny Prescher and wife, Mildred of Rogers, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Morningside Ministries in Boerne, Texas and River City Hospice of San Antonio, Texas for all the care they provided Ernie these past several months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 901 Indiana Street, Suite 350, Wichita Falls, Texas 76301; or to St Mary's Catholic Church, PO Box 230, Windthorst, Texas 76389.
