Doyle "Wayne" Sharp, age 87, of Electra, Texas passed away July 1, 2019, in a Dallas hospital.
A Celebration of Wayne's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Electra with his grandsons, Jeremy Hare, Associate Pastor of Anchor Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, and Brady Sharp, Pastor of Credence Church of Lawton, Oklahoma, officiating. His son, Steve Sharp and son-in-law, John Hare, Pastor of Pacific Avenue Baptist Church in Iowa Park, will be assisting. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Wayne was born June 14, 1932 of Rochester, Texas to the late Charlie Gillard Sharp and Nettie Irene Evans Sharp.
He and Sarah Reed were married October 21, 1950 in Goree, Texas.
Wayne had served as a Baptist Pastor for fifty-four years in several different churches and led many to the Lord. He had been employed for Aulds Funeral Home for fifteen years. He also was a carpenter, handyman, and auto mechanic.
Wayne loved the Lord, his wife, his family and all his friends. He enjoyed telling jokes, pulling pranks, fishing, playing his guitar and singing with his beautiful wife.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah of Electra; one daughter, Lynell Hare and husband, John of Wichita Falls; three sons, Steve Sharp and wife, Carlene of Dean, Derrel Sharp of Wichita Falls, and Larry Sharp and wife, Aloha of Houston; one sister, Ruby Hubbard of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
