Donnie Cox, age 65, of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Archer City, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, in Abilene.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home Chapel in Archer City with Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home.

Donnie was born January 2, 1958 to Donald Wayne Cox, Sr. and Virginia Maxine Crabb Cox in Vidor, Texas.

Donnie attended Archer City High School.  He was a carpenter most of his life.  He also worked at Home Depot in Georgia and then in Wichita Falls where he worked in the tool rental department.

Donnie loved fishing and dancing.  He also raised Jack Russell Dogs which he sold and showed and he judged the competition.

Donnie was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls.  He loved everyone and made friends easily.  He loved his grandfather, Walter Henry Crabb, who always called him "Donnie Boy" which made him extremely happy.

Survivors include one daughter, Nicole Hernandez of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Gretta Veitenheimer and husband, Robert of Windthorst and Loretta Richey of Archer City; one brother, James Cox and wife, DeAnn of Archer City; and three granddaughters, Abigail and Raegan, both of Mineral Wells, and Kailia Cox of Japan; and four stepsons, Josh, Brian, Chris and Beau Noland of Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Tyler Ryan Cox in 2007 and Justin Don Cox in 2017; father, Donald Cox in 2014; mother, Virginia Cox in 2021; step-mother, Dorothy Cox in 2021; and sister, Judy Maxine Cox in 1963.
