Donald Wayne "Don" Hoff, the son of Ernie and Billie Mae Hoff, was born December 16th, 1958 in Windthorst Texas. A country boy at heart, Don grew up "walking up hill in the snow" being on the dairy farm and causing a ruckus with his brothers, Neil and Ron, but also always doing his big brotherly duties for his one and only sister, Terry.

He met his future wife and love of his life, Charla Jeanne Smith, while attending a high school dance. Upon marriage in 1979, Don worked as a wheat cutter traveling to many parts of the United States and was also an oil field man while Charla worked towards her nursing degree. In the summer of 1991, they were blessed with their first baby girl, Avery Jae. Soon after, they complete the "ABCD" with their second blessing, Brenna Elizabeth, in the summer of 1995. Don spent many hardworking years working at Vitro PPG where he retired, but always felt like he was still at "the plant" no matter how long it had been.

Don "Duque" Wayne loved everyone with his whole heart. He never met a stranger and always knew someone's "momma, or granddaddy, or great-granddaddy". Servers, bartenders, cashiers, clerks – he always left a big impression no matter where he went. He was well-known for being at church at 8:30 a.m. every Sunday, come rain or shine. Don was always there to lend a hand no matter who you were, boycotting any business that he couldn't remember why, and his many "Don-isms".

He loved his family and bragged about his children, sons-in-law or grandchildren to anyone that would listen. Don loved filling out the newspaper crossword puzzles, watching sports (rooting for the Texas Rangers, Windthorst Trojans, Notre Dame Knights, any of his family members teams or his grandkids' sports), and being with his "chickies in the nest" (at home with family).

We knew him as Dad, Daddy, Daddio, Bops and Boppoo. You may have known him as Don, Donaldo, or Duque (Duck), but we all knew him as a wonderful friend who listened, knew how to cheer you up with a belly laugh and gave the best hugs.

Preceding Don in death were his brother-in-law, Richard Poynor; parents-in-law, Carol & Charles "Buddy" Smith.

Don is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Charla; daughters and sons-in-law, Avery and Rafael Barron of Windthorst and Brenna and Ryan Looney of Wichita Falls; his five grandchildren, Bexley, Braylie, Jack, Barrett and Henry; his parents, Ernie and Billie Hoff of Windthorst; two brothers, Neil Hoff and wife, Barbara of Windthorst and Ron Hoff and wife, Lenora of Scotland; sister, Terry Keen and husband, Dale of Wichita Falls; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were called family, especially the MOTH.

The family suggests memorials to Windthorst Volunteer Fire Department, Post Office Box 162, Windthorst, Texas 76389, Scotland Volunteer Fire Department, 379 Avenue J, Scotland, Texas 76379 or to the charity of your choice.
