Debbye was the devoted wife of Johnny Guffey for 53 wonderful years, sharing a marriage that reflected deep commitment, partnership, and enduring love. She was a proud and loving mother to her two children, Shawn Guffey and Brandy Lancaster, who were the center of her world and a constant source of pride. She also cherished her role as “Gigi” to her six grandchildren and held each of them close to her heart.
Debbye retired from the State of Texas after years of dedicated service. She was known for her strong spirit and determination, qualities reflected in her achievement of earning a black belt in judo. She was an avid fan of baseball and softball, and through that love she even took the field as an umpire, something she deeply enjoyed.
Beyond her accomplishments, Debbye had a flair for style — she loved to dress well, enjoyed shopping, and carried herself with grace and confidence wherever she went.
Debbye will be remembered for her strength, her sense of style, her loving heart, and the deep devotion she had for her family. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Survivors include her husband Johnny Guffey of Scotland; son, Shawn Guffey and wife, Mary of Springtown; daughter, Brandy Lancaster and husband, Jeff of Mansfield; sister, Ann Scarborough and husband, Lance of Iowa Park; and six grandchildren.
