David, nicknamed Rooster by his step-father at an early age, grew up in Iowa Park where he attended school before moving to Electra.
He was a truck driver for Wichita Metal for many years until his retirement. During his years of truck driving, David always said that Utah was his favorite place to go. David loved to treasure hunt and would go to storage units where he found many of his treasures, He also collected marbles and coins. David was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and was true to the end.
David lived in several places in Texas and Oklahoma. However, the last two years he has lived in Iowa Park with his sister, Rita Sampley and her husband, Glen due to his health. His health limited him to sitting on the front porch where he enjoyed watching the birds in the bird bath that he bought for Rita and watching the squirrels play in the yard. His favorite past time was watching the show, Law and Order while eating candy and ice cream. Foremost, he loved his family and friends, visiting with them gave him such joy.
David is remembered by his family for being loving and he had a special gift for making people laugh. David was a giving person and would give someone all he could if he thought that person needed his help.
On January 19, 2015, David received atonement by Rev Gwin Morman of Hospice of Wichita Falls. The staff of Hospice of Wichita Falls took great care of David and he loved and considered them family.
