Daniel Patrick Schenk, age 77, of Scotland, Texas passed away Friday morning, June 5, 2026, from a long battle with cancer in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

The rosary and funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with Rev. Bartho Nanduri and Deacon David Bindel officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery in Scotland, Texas under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Danny was born March 10, 1949 to the late Jacob Nicholas “Nick” Schenk and Mary Catherine Steinberger Schenk in Wichita Falls, Texas.

After graduating from Archer City High School and attending Midwestern University, he didn’t go too far from home. He started a dairy farm at the original homestead where his parents had a dairy. The dairy grew throughout the years into one of the largest in the area.

Danny married Donna Gayle Moore on October 3, 1974 and they loved to travel. One of Danny’s goals was to go to every continent which he accomplished several years ago. He loved to see the different aspects and cultures of the world. They made lifelong friends on the cruises they enjoyed.

Danny was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland, the Scotland Knights of Columbus, Board member of the Archer County Farm Bureau and served on the Scotland City Council.

Danny is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Donna; step-daughter, Doris Steinberger and husband, Bob; nephew, Carter McGregor and wife, Char’lea and four great-grandchildren. Danny is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and step-son, Don McGregor.

The family would like to thank the health care workers with Healing Hands and the wonderful nurses at the inpatient Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Memorials may be made to the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 103, Scotland, Texas 76379; Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 or the Archer Service Center, P.O. Box 579, Archer City, Texas 76351.
