Daniel was born July 30, 1984, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Donald Bryce Petty and Lynda Ray Luig Petty.
He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 2002, graduating in the National Honor Society. He was an outstanding athlete in basketball. He was a 2007 graduate from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas earning a Bachelor of Science in Cellular Molecular Biology. After graduation, he worked in pharmaceutical laboratories in Austin, Fort Worth, and Edmond.
Daniel and Jennifer Ann Smith met at their first jobs out of college in Austin, Texas. They were married on September 22, 2018, in Fort Worth, Texas. They enjoyed traveling and made many trips to Europe. His favorites included the Highlands of Scottland and The Alps in Switzerland. They honeymooned in Asia visiting Thailand and Japan. They never had children, but their home was filled with love from many dogs, cats, two nieces and eleven nephews. Daniel was a beloved uncle. His nieces and nephews enjoyed hanging out and laughing with him and loved his music choices. He became known as the Golden Boy by his wife’s family, especially after helping his father-in-law with his large garden.
Daniel loved to go camping, hiking, and reading historical books. He was a dedicated lifetime learner, a trait he learned from his parents. His uncle, Charles, aptly describes him as a sweet, courteous, thoughtful, kind, and successful man. Everyone will remember his infectious smile and grand hugs which were followed by his “Love You!” greeting. He was the helper called upon when repairs were needed since he was a great problem solver. He loved to work in the yard with his parents and carried that love for yard work into his adult home. He enjoyed tending to his flowers and herb gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Edmond, Oklahoma, his parents, Don and Lynda Petty of Wichita Falls, numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, Chris and Judy Smith of Prague Oklahoma, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
