Curtis Wayne
Warner
January 9, 1942 – May 7, 2026
Curtis Wayne Warner, age 84, of Electra, Texas, passed away from complications of several strokes and heart failure, Thursday night, May 7, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A celebration of Curtis’s life will be held in the near future. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Curtis was born in Dallas, Texas on January 9, 1942, the second son of the late Charles Franklin Warner and Mildred Pauline Andrews Warner. He was raised with three brothers, Arden, Richard and Don.
He married his high school classmate and sweetheart Lelia Ann Thompson on December 23, 1961, at the home of Lelia’s sister, Peggy and husband, Jack Payton, of Electra. Curtis and Lelia both graduated from Electra High School in 1960.
Curtis and seven of his classmates joined the Texas Army National Guard during their senior year in Electra High School. He served in the Guard until 1985, retiring as Sergeant Major. While in the Guard he graduated from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. After leaving the Guard, he enrolled in college at North Texas University, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting. Curtis worked for five years as a Certified Public Accountant before retiring again. After this retirement, he devoted many hours, days and weeks to fishing. Curtis was a lifetime member of the National Guard Association of Texas and the Disabled American Veterans.
He continually sought ways and places to serve in order to make his small world a better place. One of those ways was to serve the citizens of the area where he lived. During the thirty-seven years he and Lelia lived in Watauga, Texas, Curtis served on various city boards and as a City Councilman, where he was also Mayor Pro Tem. After returning to Electra in 2005, he worked with several boards and committees, including serving as City Commissioner, Mayor Pro Tem and eventually Mayor. Curtis was a longtime member of the Electra Chuck Wagon Gang and a blood donor for over fifty years.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia Warner of Electra; one daughter, Tamra Hopkins of Middletown, Maryland; one son, Jason Warner and partner, Tavorsheia Mitchell of Electra; one brother, Richard Warner and wife, Pat of Amarillo; son-in-law, Warren Scott of Electra; two sisters-in-law, Pat Warner of Florida and Jane Riddle and husband, Benny of Whitesboro, Texas; one grandson, Jared Psencik and wife, Holly of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; one granddaughter, Shalene Hendrix and husband, Will Stansell of Hurst, Texas; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Ayva, Sienna, Felicity, Saorise, Emily and Rachel.
