Curtis Cashion, age 83, of Holliday, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Holliday with Darryl Sewell, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Holliday Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Curtis was born December 15, 1938 in O'Donnell, Texas to the late Thomas Olen Cashion and Susan Mae Leverette Cashion.
He and Nellie Lynch were married June 1, 1957 in Kermit, Texas.
Curtis honorably served his country in the National Guard. He had worked in construction throughout his life. He also owned and operated the Kickapoo Catfish Hole for several years. Curtis loved fishing.
Over the years, Curtis raised over 200 emotionally and deprived children. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was the "Greatest Papa" to all of his grandchildren and had a special bond with each and every one of them.
Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holliday. He was a Godly man who would seek out the widows and help them in any way that he could, from mowing their lawns to repairing anything they needed. Sometimes, he would just carry on conversations with them.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie of Holliday; three daughters, Doris Jean Bazan and husband, Rev. Charles of Graham, Connie Elaine Evans and husband, David of Holliday and Lisa Ann Shoemaker and husband, John of Holliday; one brother, Harold Cashion and wife, Carla of Shingletown, California; two sisters, Doris Lubich and husband, George of Reno, Nevada and Glenda Kermode and husband, Marvin of Aho, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and one- great-great-grandchild.
Curtis was also preceded in death by one daughter, Iva Jane Travis; brother, Bobby Gene Cashion; and three sisters, Hilda Bartley, Claudine Leverette and Francis Banker.
