Claude Ray McIlroy, age 81, of Electra, Texas, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.  Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Ray was born January 23, 1941 in Vernon, Texas to the late Claude McIlroy and Mae Ethel Byrd McIlroy.

After graduating from college, he taught school for several years in Luling, Texas.  It was there that he met his wife, Linda Gayle May.  They were married on November 17, 1972, in Hondo, Texas.  After their marriage, the couple returned to Wichita County.

Upon his return, Ray and his brother took over McIlroy Oil Company, where he still worked.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gayle McIlroy of Electra; two sons, Paul Sam McIlroy of Scott City, Kansas and Claude Ray McIlroy, Jr. of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Laura Kay Pfeifer and husband, Sam of Eastland; his twin sister, Kay Freeman and husband, Paul of Aurora, Colorado; one brother, Sam McIlroy and his wife, Gail of Iowa Park; three grandchildren, Tanner Cash McIlroy, Lasey Catherine Johnson and Caeden Lance Johnson; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gene McIlroy and Richard McIlroy.
