Clara Ellen Baker, age 82, of Wichita Falls, formerly of Scotland, Texas passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026 in Wichita Falls.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Pavilion in Electra Memorial Park in Electra, Texas. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Clara was born August 6, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Harley Seth Turnbow and Ida Mae Hudson Turnbow.
In August 1971, she married the love of her life, Wenurth “Red” Baker in Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2008.
Clara lived in Harrold, Lake Kemp, Scotland and then in Iowa Park. After Red’s death, she moved to Scotland and lived with her grandson and family for eight years before moving to University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita Falls.
Most of her life, Clara was a Certified Nursing Aide in nursing homes which she enjoyed. Clara loved crocheting and made blankets for all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, swimming and old westerns. She was a great cook and was known for her refrigerator rolls.
Survivors include, one son, Wenurth Wesley Baker, Jr. and wife, Annette of Iowa Park; two sisters, Joyce Raper Uselton and husband Sidney of Alvarado and Ruby Raper of Burleson; three brothers, Harley Raper of Canadian, Oklahoma, Fred Raper of Paradise and Allen Raper of Alvord; eight grandchildren, Wes Idell and wife, Cindy of Scotland, Ruth Palmer and husband, Gary of Texarkana, Robin Stewart and husband, Darrell of Iowa Park, P.J. Kellogg of Arkansas, Dorothy Kellogg of Arkansas, Allen Idell, Billy Idell and Glen Idell all of Vernon; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Paul Kellogg and Norman Baker and one daughter, Tilda Idell.
The family would like to thank Refuge Care Hospice for all the love and care that they showed Clara while she was in their care.
