Cynthia Sue Hicks Hansard, age 71, of Electra, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 in Burkburnett, Texas.

No services will be held at this time.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Cindy was born June 2, 1953 in Paso Robles, California to William "Bill" Fletcher Hicks, Jr.  and Betty Jo Richey Hicks.

She graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1971.  Cindy then started college at Angelo State University before transferring to Southwest Texas State University where she received a bachelor's degree in English Education and Home Economics.

A teaching job landed Cindy in Memphis, Texas. It was there she met James Ira Hansard and the two were married November 29, 1980 in Memphis.

She and James eventually made their home in Electra in 1982.

Cindy taught English and Home Economics for thirty-two years.  She taught twenty-seven years for the North Texas State Hospital and then for five years at Electra High School.

She was a god-fearing woman who was very strong in her faith.  Cindy loved her family fiercely, especially her grandchildren.  She was incredibly kind and giving to anyone she encountered, even complete strangers.  Cindy had a big heart and always wanted to help in any way she could.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Hicks of Seguin, Texas; one daughter, Jaci Hansard of Grandview, Texas; one son, Casey Hansard and girlfriend, Brittany Matthews of Electra; her grandson, Landry Blayke Roberson of Grandview, Texas; three bonus grandchildren, Ray Hale, Junior Waggoner and Dakota Matthews, all of Electra; two sisters, Joni Turner and Patti Shaw and husband, Kevin, all of Seguin, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Mike Hansard and wife, Kaye of Canyon, Texas and Dusty Hansard and wife, Karen of Friona, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; her best friend of over forty years, Connie Bumgarner; and her very close family friends, William and Joyce Light of Electra.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Bill Hicks in August of 1999; her husband, James Hansard on May 6, 2023; her in-laws, Jim F. and Shirley Hansard; and a nephew, Eric Hansard in 2014.
