Charlene, as she preferred to be called, was born on August 16, 1929, in Electra to the late Lester Joshua Crawford and Mary Shaeffer Crawford.  She was a graduate of Electra High School.

Charlene moved from Electra to Wichita Falls in 1983, when she began working at Sheppard Air Force Base as a civilian in Personnel until her retirement.  She lived in Wichita Falls until she moved to North Richland Hills in May 2020.

She was passionate about volunteering.  For many years, Charlene delivered Meals on Wheels for The Kitchen and also assisted at the Whispers of Hope Horse Farm.  Her greatest love was sewing and creating beautiful quilts for her friends and family.  Charlene was a member of the Quilting Club at the Zone, where they donated quilts to many Wichita Falls organizations.  Over the years, she had many hobbies.  She was an avid reader who always had a book and later eBooks on the iPad.  Charlene loved long walks daily and bird watching.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Sherry Eckelkamp and husband, Hugo of North Richland Hills, Jill Rawls and husband, Kirk of Woodstock, Georgia and Alan Sexton of Humble Texas; five grandchildren, Tara Hackney, Evan Eckelkamp, Dedra Vaughn, Somer Sexton and Shaeffer Smolko; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her nephew, Steve Tipps and wife, Becky Poplin.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Josh Crawford; her sister, Elaine Crawford Boatwright; and a grandson, Joshua Lee Sexton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to Whispers of Hope Horse Farm, 3545 Parkhill Rd., #1, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 or The Kitchen-Meals on Wheels, 1008 Burnett St., Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
