Carmelo R. Ponce, Jr., age 63, of Electra, Texas passed away Friday September 24, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Moreno officiating.  Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, with a service by Joe Grace to follow at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Carmelo was born July 24, 1958 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Carmen Castillo Ponce and Anselma Ruiz Ponce.

Carmelo was a painter of homes and painted portraits and pictures.  He also finished furniture.   He enjoyed telling his life stories that would make a difference to other people.  His stories would make you laugh out loud.  He was a good advisor with a good heart and very lovable.  At a very young age, Carmelo helped to support his family and was loved by many. He attended Compassion Church in Holliday.

Survivors include his father, Carmen Ponce of Electra; two daughters, Elisa Carter and husband, Stephen and Gina Bowling and husband, Ken all of Electra; one son, Carmelo Ponce III of Houston; daughter-in-law, Connie Case of Electra; five sisters, Nicolas Ponce of Electra, Irema Ponce of Electra, Emily P. Razo and husband, Bobby of Ft. Worth, Mary Delarosa and husband, Roy of Electra, Estella Julien and husband, Suku of Wichita Falls and Norma Segura and husband, Ernest of Electra; two brothers, Robert Ponce and Ralph Ponce both of Electra; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anselma and two brothers, Pete and Eugene.
