On the morning of February 23, 2023, Carlton Dale Deen went home to be with the Lord. A ceremony celebrating his life will be held February 27, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at the Archer City Cemetery. Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church of Archer City, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

Carlton was born July 30, 1942, to the late Obie William Deen and Gussie Burks Deen. He graduated from Archer City High School and attended Cisco Junior College. On July 5, 1963, Carlton and Sue McMurtry married, with Buster Boren as best-man. In 1966, Carlton was drafted into the United States Army in which he served for two years alongside his close friend Benjie Ainsworth.

Carlton followed in his dad's footsteps and spent most of his life working in the oil industry as owner and operator of Deen Drilling Company, the company his dad, Obie, started. Carlton would eventually pass ownership of the company onto his son, Chad. Through an unfailing work ethic and dedication Carlton created a wonderful life for his family and loved ones.

For many years, Carlton could be found on a lake somewhere with his fishing buddies, such as his friend Benjie Ainsworth and nephew Mitch McLemore. Carlton was also known to traverse across North Texas supporting his grandkids at countless dirt bike races. He was a motorcycle enthusiast himself and even had his own dirt bikes.

He is survived by his wife, Sue McMurtry Deen of Archer City; one son, Chad William Deen and wife Melanie Graham Deen of Archer City; one granddaughter, Ariel Denise Deen of Palmer; one grandson, Conner William Deen of Windthorst; one sister, Ruth Lavern "Ponchie" Deen of Vernon; one brother-in-law, William Charles "Charlie" McMurtry of Archer City; two sisters-in-law, Judy McMurtry McLemore and Brenda Goforth of Archer City; five nephews, James McMurtry, Duane Deen, Mitch McLemore, Matt McLemore, and Obie Gillespie; and five nieces, Diane Deen, Darci Murfield, Mitzi King, Traci McMurtry Rigby, and Cindy Gillespie Chambles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Obie and Gussie Deen; older brother, David Deen; nephew, Todd McMurtry; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Jeff McMurtry and L.D. "Butch" McLemore.

If so obliged, the family suggests memorial donations to the Archer City Service Center, 202 W Walnut St, Archer City, TX 76351, (940) 574-4572.
