Brenda Gail Meyer Goforth, age 64, of Archer City, Texas passed away Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Archer City Cemetery Pavilion with Roger Deerinwater officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Brenda was born June 26, 1961 in Bowie, Texas to Billy Allen Meyer and Bobbie Jean Nivens Meyer. She graduated from Archer City High School.

She and Vincent Paul Goforth were married on April 7, 1979 in Archer City, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2005. After the untimely death of her husband, Vincent, she found love again and had a happy and fulfilling life with Charlie McMurtry for twenty years.

Brenda worked in the dental office of Dr. Russell in Jacksboro and Archer City. She then worked for Dickey, McGann and Rowe Insurance Agency in Archer City for thirty-one years until her health declined.

Brenda and Charlie frequented dance halls. She would later boast about winning the Twist Contest one evening. Brenda loved being a MeMe to her six grandchildren. She was a member of the ’79 Girls Club and enjoyed spending the time with her family and friends. Brenda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer City.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie McMurtry of Archer City; three daughters, Kari Goforth of Archer City, Erica Morris and husband, Jake of Aubrey, Texas, and Traci Rigby and husband, Trevor of McKinney; mother, Bobbie Meyer of Archer City; two brothers, Robert Meyer of Wichita Falls, and Doyle Meyer of West Monroe, Louisiana; two sisters, Beverly Southard and husband, Chester of Archer City, and Rhonda Russell and husband, Robert of Lexington, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Seth, Kate, Kinsey, Wells, Cohen and Kennedy; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Billy Meyer on March 1, 2013 and son, Todd Wayne McMurtry on June 20, 2011.
