Bobby Joe Roderick, age 83, of Archer City, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, in Earle W. Crawford House of Hope in Wichita Falls.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Archer City with Rev. Rebecca Grogan, Minister of the First United Methodist Church, and Roger Deerinwater of Archer City, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Bobby was born December 23, 1931 in Iowa Park, Texas to the late Grady Roderick and Eula Nimmo Roderick.
He moved to Archer City in 1947 and graduated from Archer City High School in 1951.
Bobby and Peggy Graham were married June 3, 1952 in Archer City. She preceded him in death on March 4, 2002.
Bobby was employed with General Motors for 29 1/2 years until his retirement in 1997.
He loved gardening and sharing his crops with others. He spent countless hours shelling pecans which he also shared. Bobby enjoyed having company at his home and drinking coffee with his friends. Bobby had a compassionate heart and loved helping others, mowing yards, taking his friends to the grocery store, going to the doctor and any errands they may need to do. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren and his family.
Survivors include one son, Joe Roderick and his wife, Sharon of Archer City; one daughter, Jema Hollingsworth and husband, Billy of Joshua, Texas; five grandchildren, Jessica Deerinwater and husband, Amos of Archer City, Mica Martin and husband, Mike of Joshua, Natalea Berend and husband, Adam of Keller, Dayton Hollingsworth and wife, Tiffany of Cleburne; and Rylea Roderick and Matt Ridenour of Fort Worth; six great-grandchildren, Seth, Luke, Greyson, Olivia, Nora and Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dayton Hollingsworth, Amos Deerinwater, Mike Martin, Adam Berend, Matt Ridenour. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cox, Jimmy Davis, Ron Jeffries and David Owen.
