Bobbie Jean Nivens Meyer, age 89, of Archer City, Texas, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Archer City with C.J. Frazier, Pastor of First Baptist Church, and Roger Deerinwater officiating. Interment will follow in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church following the service and interment.
Bobbie was born November 2, 1936, in Alvord, Texas, to the late Coy Wilborn Nivens and Mary Dorothy Grissom Nivens.
She and Billy Allen Meyer were married May 19, 1956 in Forestburg, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2013.
Bobbie worked for Troy’s Drive-In for five years, Bealls Department Store for ten years and then at the Archer City Nursing Center until she retired as housekeeping supervisor at the age of 80.
She loved working jigsaw puzzles and sitting on her porch watching the birds. Bobbie especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always ready to go watch them play sports, but had a special place in her heart for basketball.
Bobbie was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Archer City.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Meyer of Wichita Falls and Doyle Meyer of West Monroe, Louisiana; two daughters, Beverly Southard and husband, Chester of Archer City and Rhonda Russell and husband, Robert of St. Matthews, South Carolina; one sister, Linda Wolter of Archer City; one brother, Sammie L. Nivens and wife, Jean of Ryan, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Chris, Khristal, Ashley, Cameron, Kari, Erica, Traci, Shae and Austin; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Goforth; and two brothers, Billy Wayne Nivens and Lloyd Nivens.
