Betty Jo Taylor, age 91, of Electra, Texas passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at her residence.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Electra with Ryan Vanderland, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, and Joe Ainsworth of Electra officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iowa Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Betty was born June 24, 1930 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the late Earl Henry Minter and Tempie Bell Love Minter.
Betty attended Abilene Christian, Hardin Simmons and then graduated in 1987 from Cisco College with a teaching degree. She was a Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher in Abilene and also taught and managed the private school for the City of Abilene at Rose Park for twenty-six years until her retirement in 2004. She was awarded Employee of the Month by the City of Abilene and two Certificates of Achievements from the Texas Department of Education for Excellence in Child Care Education.
Betty married the love of her life, Thurman Taylor on January 2, 1948 in Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2013.
In 2004, she moved to Electra where she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Donald Taylor and wife, Joann of Iowa Park; two daughters, Carolyn Lake of Pearland and Patty Miller and husband, Ralph of Panama City, Florida; seven grandchildren, Allen Fickle and wife, Yahel of San Angelo, Michael Fickle and wife, Connie of Pearland, Kenneth Fickle and wife, Michelle of Lubbock, Tammy Jo Arcana and husband, Kirt of Kiln, Mississippi, Phillip Miller and wife, Brooke of Pensacola, Florida, Jeffrey Taylor and wife, Mandy of Iowa Park, and Thomas Taylor of Iowa Park; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Fickle, Kelly Houston, Ralph Miller, Jacob Taylor, Jeffrey Taylor and Thomas Taylor.
