Bernice Walker, age 91, of Electra, Texas passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Electra Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Bible Baptist Church in Electra with Terry Hickman, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Bernice was born September 21, 1924 to the late James Franklin Cochran and Lillie May Carter Cochran in Spencerville, Oklahoma. She attended school in Electra.

Bernice married the love her life, Doyle Walker, on January 20, 1946 in Wichita County, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2007.

Bernice was a homemaker who sold Avon in Electra for several years and enjoyed visiting with the ladies. Sales was her forte. After her children left home, she enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband. Bernice was a cracker jack 42 player who was very hard to beat. She was a die hard Dallas Cowboy Fan even when her eyesight failed her. Bernice was an excellent cook and made wonderful pies and cornbread.

Bernice was a member of Bible Baptist Church, the Natco Ann's and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Geneva Weatherby Patton of Electra, and Brenda Underwood of Wichita Falls and her companion, Troy Gilbert of Punkin Center; one son, Larry Doyle Walker and wife, Louise of Prague, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Scott Weatherby.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kale Underwood, Michael Underwood, Zachary Underwood, Joshua Walker, Nicholas Walker, and Brad Weatherby.

The family suggests memorials to the Electra Senior Citizens Center, 503 West Michigan, Electra, Texas 76360.
