Bennie McCann, age 78, of Windthorst, Texas passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at his residence.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023, at Aulds Funeral Home Chapel of Archer City with Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Windthorst under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Bennie was born August 12, 1945 in Vernon, Texas to the late Rollie Charles "R.C." McCann and Helen Louise Doyle McCann.
He graduated from Wichita Falls High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from1962 until 1966.
He married Nora Morbitzer in 1967 and together they had two sons, David and Charles. He then married Marla Jean Clifton on February 15, 1986 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Bennie was a salesman for James Wood Auto Park in Denton for twenty-one years until his retirement in 2021. In 2016, he moved to Windthorst.
Bennie was a Baptist throughout his life. He was a good husband and a great Dad. Bennie enjoyed playing golf, playing pool and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Marla J. McCann of Windthorst; two sons, David McCann and wife, Karen of Windthorst, and Charles McCann and wife, Crystal of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren, Emily McCann of New Braunfels, Nathan McCann of Archer City, Thomas McCann of Windthorst, Savannah McCann of Windthorst, Haley DeMoss and husband, Logan of Wichita Falls, Blake McCann and fiancé, Ashlyn Darby of Wichita Falls; one great-grandson, Levi DeMoss of Wichita Falls; mother-in-law, Phyllis Clifton of Centralia, Illinois; sister-in-law, Cindy Clifton of Centralia, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Keith Clifton and wife, Kathy of Anna, Texas, and David Clifton and wife, Jill of Tupelo, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Melvin McCann, one sister, Linda Joyce Martin and one brother-in-law, Robert Clifton, Jr.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 or any Veterans Organization of your choice.
