Benjamin Ernest “Benny” Burks, age 85, of Archer City, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at his residence.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Benny was born July 20, 1941 in Henrietta, Texas to the late Dalton Leonard Burks and Eda Fay Walters Burks.

He attended Archer City High School and then served his country in the United States Army.

Throughout his life, Benny worked in the oilfield including time overseas. He was a member of the Archer City American Legion Post 198. Benny loved fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Sonja Oliver of Wichita Falls and Teresa Menchaca and husband, Rodrigo of Wichita Falls; one son, Jay Burks and wife, Elisa of Granbury; five grandchildren, Micki, Brett, Tessa, Andres and Cody; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Garland Burks and wife, Karen of Burkburnett; one sister, Melba Harkins and husband, Mike of Midland; one sister-in-law, Nell Burks of Burkburnett; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Georgia Grantham of Archer City.

Benny was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Ray Burks on May 14, 1985 and Bruce Burks on December 19, 2018; one sister, Wanda Burks Casimir on May 9, 2008 and one son-in-law, Greg Oliver on November 20, 2019.
