Audrey Byrd Southard, age 81, lifelong resident of Archer City, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, in Sheridan Medical Lodge in Burkburnett, Texas.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Grace Community Church with Pastor Jon Curry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Audrey was born July 20, 1943 in Olney, Texas to the late Bert Byrd and Juanita Mae Phillips Byrd.

She and Albert Preston Southard were married September 23, 1961 in Durant, Oklahoma.  He preceded her in death on May 18, 2014.

Audrey raised their four children before starting to work for Oilfield Service for several years. She then worked for the Archer Nursing Home as a cook.  Audrey was always busy doing something however, her greatest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of Grace Community Church.

Survivors include three sons, Chester Southard and wife, Beverly of Archer City, Preston Southard and wife, Dedra of Windthorst and Mark Southard and wife, Jo Beth of Decatur; daughter, Stacy Southard of Megargel; four sisters, Eydie Conwell of Oklahoma, Mary Moore of Wichita Falls, Carolyn Strickland of Kerens, Texas and Viola Wheeler and husband, Curtis of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Johnny Byrd and wife, Connie of Vashti and Ronny Byrd of Dallas; sister-in-law, Barbara Byrd of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Khristal, Ashley, Cameron, Justin, Braden, Macie, Sarah, Ethan, Amber and Trinity; nine great-grandchildren, Brayson, Lukas, Travis, Raye Jean, Kinzy, Karly, Brantleigh, Logan and Kade; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Byrd on August 3, 2024.
