Electra
Alice Nelson, age 73, of Electra, Texas went home to be with her Lord on July 7, 2014.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Southside Church of Christ in Electra with Gil Peters of Edgemere Church of Christ in Wichita Falls officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Alice was born August 27, 1940 in Selma, California to Jeston Thomas "Flat" Johnson and Madge Noel McMillin Johnson. At the age of one, her family moved to Texas and lived in the Haskell and Stamford area where she graduated from Stamford High School.
When she was twenty, she moved to Electra with a family member and met the love of her life, Frankie Nelson. After three months of courtship, they were married on April 21, 1961. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2010.
Alice was an active member of Southside Church of Christ where she taught Bible Class for several years. She enjoyed cooking and cooked for many church events. Alice was a very supportive member of the Electra Booster Clubs for her children while they attended school. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed reading and embroidering.
Survivors include three sons, Dean and wife, Stacy of Electra, Mark and wife, Claire of Keller, and Michael and wife, Sammie of Wichita Falls; one daughter, Alicia Hatfield and husband DeLane of Electra; one brother, Jesse Van "Bud" Johnson and wife, Marianne of Seymour; J.T., Cody, Allison, Eric, DeeAnndra, Janna-Maree, Kayla, Karshia and husband, Collin, Libby, Ashley, Allison, and Alaina; one great-grandson, Kiernan; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dean, Mark, Michael, J.T. and Cody Nelson and DeLane Hatfield.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 4100 Alpha Road, Suite 100, Dallas, Texas 75224, the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231, or Plains Children's Home, 11250 Chapman Drive, Amarillo, Texas 79118.
