Alfred Lee Miller, age 74, of Electra, Texas passed away, Friday evening, April 10, 2015, in the Electra Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, in Electra Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Nichols of Bowie officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

Alfred was born June 30, 1940 in Electra to the late Jewell Miller and Iantha Lee Morrow Miller.

He graduated from Compton High School in Compton, California. Alfred honorably served his county in the United States Air Force from September 1960 until September 1980 where he was an airplane mechanic and a crew chief until his retirement. After his retirement, he was employed by the Electra Independent School District as the janitor for the junior high school.

He and Ruby Mae Burke were married July 8, 1970 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Alfred loved trains, he said that he would go walking down by the railroad tracks and watch the trains. He also would map out trips so the highways ran beside the railroad tracks. Alfred once said if he had not gone into the Air Force, he most likely would have worked all his life for a railroad. At one time, he was thinking about being cremated and having his ashes spread along the railroad tracks hoping his dust would be picked up and he could ride the rails and see all of the country. He also enjoyed airplanes, car races and reading non-fiction and books on history. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Electra.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Electra; son, Ricky Vicars and wife, Christi of Abilene, Texas; daughter, Kathy Maldonado of Grandfield, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ginger Villarreal of Oklaunion, Texas and Patsy Brooks of Ardmore, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Miller.

The family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church, 406 West Garrison, Electra, Texas 76360.
